Science Communication

Science Communication is the process by which scientific or engineering knowledge is transmitted to the public in an engaging and accurate way. This can be for educational purposes, or as a way to market the kind of science or engineering-heavy work your organization does to the public.

I’ve been involved in science communication projects in both Alaska and Sweden, where public art shows were used as a medium to showcase and explain scientific concepts to the public, about climate change (Alaska) and about forest mycology (the study of fungi, in Sweden).

I also have conducted smaller outreach efforts while employed at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, by writing news articles on scientific subjects for The Conversation.

Contact me if you have science or engineering concepts to impart to the public and want to find a translator to help guide you in the process of outreach. I am happy to give an initial consult, and depending on budgetary and time constraints, may be able to help you by facilitating a project based on an initial set of ideas, and helping seek out appropriate funds where needed.
